Dell Rapids High School seeks an enthusiastic and organized High School Drama Assistant to support our vibrant and growing drama program. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about theatre and working with young people to contribute to the creative development of our students and the success of our productions.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Drama Director in all aspects of theatrical productions, including rehearsals, set construction, costume management, and technical elements (lighting, sound).
Provide direct support to student actors, stage crew, and other production team members.
Help organize and maintain costumes, props, and set pieces.
Assist with the creation and distribution of production-related materials (scripts, schedules, call sheets).
Supervise students during rehearsals and backstage, ensuring a safe and productive environment.
Collaborate with other school staff and volunteers as needed.
Potentially assist with fundraising efforts and program promotion.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Drama Director.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in theatre or a related field preferred.
Experience in theatre production, either in a school, community, or professional setting.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with high school students.
Enthusiasm for theatre and the educational benefits it provides.
Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as part of a team.
Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed for rehearsals and performances.
Specific skills or experience desired, e.g., basic carpentry, sewing, lighting/sound operation, stage management experience.
Must pass a background check as required by school district policy.
